Paradigm Center held a dialogue session titled “Economic Prospects in the Transitional Phase: The Sanctions Dilemma” at 7:00 PM Damascus time on Monday, February 17, 2025.
The session hosted Mr. Yaman Zabad, a researcher at the Harmoon Center for Contemporary Studies specializing in international relations and diplomacy. He discussed with attendees the possible scenarios surrounding the sanctions imposed on Syria, particularly in light of the complex interplay of regional and international interests.
The session addressed the following key themes:
- The history of U.S. and European sanctions on Syria
- The future of U.S. sanctions following the issuance of General License No. 24
- Diplomatic measures and policy options for lifting or reassessing sanctions
- The role of civil society, research centers, and the Syrian diaspora in advocating for sanctions relief
